Background

Avery Tam is a partner at Supreme Law Group and has litigated complex business disputes for nearly two decades. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (B.S., physiological sciences) and the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (J.D.), he brings a unique perspective to litigation shaped by both scientific and legal training.

His scientific training shaped how he approaches legal problems: by breaking them down to first principles and focusing on how different rules and facts interact. This allows him to better understand what’s happening and make informed decisions for your best interests.

Practice Focus

Avery focuses on complex business litigation and arbitration, representing companies, shareholders, and directors in disputes involving fiduciary duties, fraud, and ownership conflicts. He also advises on shareholder and nonprofit governance disputes, including matters involving religious and nonprofit organizations. Earlier in his career, he represented individuals in serious personal injury cases and secured recoveries exceeding seven figures.

Experience and Approach

Admitted to the California Bar in 2006, Avery has handled cases in state and federal courts as well as arbitration forums. He can analyze complex legal frameworks, identify key issues, and build persuasive arguments. Rather than overcomplicating matters, he focuses on helping you understand what’s actually at stake and what path forward makes the most sense.

Approach to Client Service

Avery takes the time to understand your business, your industry, and your objectives before recommending any course of action. That means weighing the costs and benefits of each option and avoiding unnecessary conflict when it doesn’t serve your interests. The goal is to help you reach a resolution that protects your position and supports your long-term success.
